Background Information
I chose this topic because we use erasers EVERY day. I wondered what other erasers we could use and how they work. I think erasers are AWESOME! I also wondered what manufacturers put in to erasers to make them erase. I knew erasers take away graphite and that they come in every little shape and size.
Some Questions I had were: -How are different erasers used? -How do you make a eraser? -What companies sell erasers -What is the average amount of erasers used in a month? |
Eraser History
A eraser is an object that is most often used to remove marks from paper, mostly caused by a pencil. There was no better material for removing pencil marks until rubber was available in the Old World. Until the late nineteenth century, pencils and erasers were always separate. So when people needed supplies for school they would have to buy pencils and erasers cause no way would them two be together. If they are caught using a pencil with a eraser attached to it they would then be sent to jail.Did you know that the first erasers were made from bread! :-) |
